Halloween Pottery - Sip, Create, and Celebrate the Season

Making with clay has always felt like stepping into a little bit of magic. There’s something deeply grounding about shaping earth in your hands, but also something transformative, like conjuring form out of formlessness. And as autumn creeps in and the nights grow darker, what better way to mark the season than by gathering to create something special with clay? This Autumn, I’m thrilled to be running a series of Pottery at the Pub evenings alongside a very special Halloween workshop at my Art Barn Studio at Bernwood Pottery.

Pottery at the Pub – Sip and Create

Pottery at the Pub evenings have quickly become one of my favourite ways to share the joy of clay. Imagine a cosy pub atmosphere, a glass of your favourite drink in hand, and a table full of people laughing, chatting, and creating together. Each Halloween Pottery session runs for two hours, and for £30 you’ll have everything you need to make your own piece while enjoying the company of friends (old and new).

Here’s where you can join my Halloween Pottery at The Pub:

September 23rd – The Bull, Stoke Mandeville

October 1st – The Slow and Steady, Oxford

October 2nd – The Eight Bells, Long Crendon

October 7th – The Sun, Wheatley

October 8th – The Crown, Marcham

We’ll be making charming little pumpkin Jack-o’-lanterns, ghoulish ghost or spooky bats from clay. These miniature lanterns are the perfect seasonal project: fun to shape, easy to personalise, and wonderfully atmospheric once finished. Whether you carve spooky faces, playful grins, or keep them simple with textured pumpkin ridges, each piece will be unique to you.

There’s no pressure to be perfect! This is about enjoying the process, finding your own creative rhythm, and maybe even surprising yourself with what you can make. I’ve found that within minutes of people getting their hands on clay, the conversation flows as freely as the drinks. It’s a chance to step away from screens, reconnect with your hands, and share a truly memorable evening.

A Special Halloween Pottery Party Workshop

This year, I’m especially excited to invite you to the Art Barn Studio at Bernwood Pottery in Oxfordshire for a Halloween Pottery Party workshop on Sunday, October 5th. This is more than just a class, it’s an experience. This event is appropriate for all ages in order to immerse yourself into the festive spirit with classic Halloween tunes, delicious treats and spooky Halloween decorations. Over two and a half hours, you’ll shape and create 2–4 unique pieces, which I’ll then fire in the kiln so that you can take them home and treasure. At £40, this workshop gives you not only the joy of making but also the satisfaction of holding your own finished, kiln-fired creations.

The barn has its own atmosphere at this time of year: the golden light, the crisp air, and a sense of seasonal celebration. With Halloween around the corner, it feels like the perfect moment to let your imagination run wild, whether that’s forming little pumpkin-inspired pots, eerie candle holders, or simply making whatever your hands are called to shape.

So why not gather your friends, your workmates, or even come alone and make new connections? Whether you’re sipping and pottering in a local pub or joining me in the barn for the Halloween workshop, these sessions are all about creativity, community, and joy. You’ll leave not only with clay on your hands but also with a lighter heart and maybe a few handmade treasures too. You can book your Halloween Pottery experience here or contact me directly if you would like to organise your own private event.
