Pottery Classes in Buckinghamshire
Discover the world of pottery in the idyllic county of Buckinghamshire
I’ve always loved how pottery brings people together. It doesn’t matter if it’s someone’s very first time with clay or a returning maker, there’s a spark of excitement when hands meet the material. I’ve been lucky to run pottery classes in Buckinghamshire that capture this spirit, offering people a chance to pause, play, and create. From lively evenings in cosy pubs to slower-paced sessions in my barn conversion just nearby, there’s a pottery experience to suit everyone.
Pottery at the Pub, Buckinghamshire
There’s something delightful about the mix of clay and conversation that happens at Pottery at the Pub. For two hours, the pub tables become little studios where people laugh, sip, and make. Everyone starts with the same ball of clay, but by the end of the evening, no two pieces look alike, some are bold, some are delicate, some are playful. That individuality is what makes these sessions so much fun.
Priced at £30, these evenings are an easy and affordable way to try pottery in a relaxed setting. You don’t need any prior experience, just a willingness to roll up your sleeves and see what takes shape. Time and again, I’ve seen people surprised at what they’re capable of creating and how quickly the room fills with energy and connection.
Why Try Pottery?
Pottery offers something rare: a way to be both playful and mindful at the same time. In Buckinghamshire, where life can feel so fast-paced, I’ve found people welcome the chance to slow down, share a table with others, and focus on making something with their hands. It’s not about perfection; clay cracks, pots wobble, and surfaces surprise us but that’s part of the beauty. What matters most is the experience, and the joy of creating something only you could have made.

Barn Workshops Just Beyond Buckinghamshire
For those who want to go a little deeper, I also host workshops in my barn conversion studio, a short trip from Buckinghamshire into the neighbouring county, Oxfordshire. The barn has a different feel to the pub, it’s quieter, light-filled, and gives you more space to immerse yourself in the process. These workshops are £40 and give you the chance to make two to four pieces, which I’ll fire in the kiln so you can take them home.
It’s a chance to experience pottery more fully: to shape, refine, and then see how the firing transforms your work. Some people make functional pieces and others lean towards decorative or sculptural forms. However you approach it, the Oxfordshire barn sessions let you explore clay in your own way, without rush or distraction.
