Pottery Half Term Activities for the Kids
Half term is the perfect opportunity to get the kids away from screens, try something different and let their imaginations run wild. If you’re looking for pottery half-term activities in Oxfordshire with plenty of creativity involved, Bernwood Pottery has three brilliant children’s workshops coming up this October – from making favourite Jellycat-inspired characters to creepy crawlies and a full day of Halloween fun.
Our half-term workshops are designed to give children the chance to get hands-on with clay, learn new skills and, most importantly, have fun creating something of their very own.
Jellycats in Clay – Wednesday 28th October
Does your child have a favourite Jellycat character? This workshop gives them the chance to recreate it in clay!
Taking place on Wednesday 28th October from 1pm–3:30pm, this fun afternoon session will introduce children to a variety of pottery techniques. They'll work with pinch pots, coils and slab construction to bring their creations to life before using decorating slip to add colour and personality.
It's a lovely opportunity for children to use a favourite character as inspiration while discovering just how much they can create from a simple piece of clay.
The workshop costs £40 per child.
JellyCat Pottery Half Term Workshop
Creepy Crawlies – Thursday 29th October
Next up, we're getting inspired by the wonderful – and sometimes slightly weird – world of creepy crawlies!
On Thursday 29th October from 1pm–3:30pm, children can create their favourite creepy crawly from clay. Think frogs, turtles, lizards, monsters and whatever else their imagination can dream up.
Just like our Jellycat session, children will explore pinch pot, coil and slab construction techniques as they learn how to turn their ideas into three-dimensional ceramic creations. They'll then have the opportunity to add colour and decorative details to make their creature completely unique.
This session is £40 per child and is a great choice for little makers who love animals, monsters and getting creative.
Creepy Crawlies Pottery Half Term Workshop
An All-Day Spooky Creative Halloween Party
We're finishing half term with something extra special!
On Friday 30th October from 10am–3:30pm, Bernwood Pottery is hosting an All-Day Spooky Creative Halloween Party.
This full-day creative workshop is packed with Halloween-inspired making. During the morning session, children will create their own block-printed trick-or-treat bags before moving on to more spooky creations in the afternoon. It's a chance to spend a whole day getting creative and getting excited for Halloween at the same time.
The full-day workshop costs £65 per child.

Our pottery half term activities are about much more than keeping little hands busy. Working with clay gives children the freedom to experiment, problem-solve and see their ideas gradually come to life. There's no need for every creation to look the same – the fun is in letting their personalities and imaginations take over.
