Oak Leaf - Handmade Ceramic Mug

£30.00

Get cosy on these crisp autumn and winter days with a cuppa in this hand-made Oak Leaf Mug. We have a beautiful oak tree with a swing on our property which is an important feature of our landscape and I tried to capture the essence of this magnificent tree in this collection.

Cascading autumn leaves grace this work evoking the changing of the seasons. This hand thrown mug is covered in leaf forms which are individually cut out from paper and applied onto the clay body. Layers of light green and dark green slip are applied in order to give the piece a textured and painterly depth to the surface.  Once all of the nuanced layers of slip are painted on, the paper cut outs are removed to reveal the leaf forms underneath. There is a little acorn detail at the base of the handle which makes each mug completely unique.

A perfect gift for the nature lover in your life, this mug is a bright, cheerful accessory for the kitchen or home.

Thrown stoneware with layers of slip and finished with a glossy glaze, 2025.

Dimensions: 9cm high x 13.5cm wide x 8.5cm deep

Each work is completely unique due to the hand made and painterly process. The image may not be an exact representation of the piece as the leaves can be placed in different positions but the image illustrates the pattern and style. This mug is food and oven safe though I would recommend hand washing it rather than putting it in the dishwasher in order to preserve it for years to come. Any irregularities in the work are due to the making and firing process and are part of the hand-made quality of the piece.
