Wildflower Garden - Handmade Ceramic Bowl / Medium

£35.00

The Wildflower pattern evokes the beautiful painterly array of flowers we encounter on our countryside ramblings.  Each piece is composed of a multitude of blue flowers upon a saffron yellow field, a nod to the bold colour combinations that one sees in the fabrics found in the South of France.  No wildflower meadow would be complete without a butterfly and each bowl has one flittering in the interior.

The flowers are painted with layers of slip and then covered with flower paper cut outs before painting the entire piece in shades and layers of bright yellow, saffron and ochre to give the piece a textural painterly depth to the surface.  Once all of the nuanced layers of slip are painted on, the paper cut outs are removed to reveal the colour of the flowers underneath.  Due to this painterly process, each work is unique and I do not truly know the final look of the piece until it has been fully fired.

A perfect gift for a garden or nature lover, these bowls are food safe and are a good size as individual serving bowls or for serving dips. The bowl can also be used as a decorative accessory around the house.

Thrown stoneware with layers of slip and finished with a glossy glaze. 2025

Dimensions: 6.5cm high x 14cm diameter

Each work is completely unique due to the painterly process. Any irregularities in the work are due to the making and firing process and are part of the hand-made quality of the piece.

The bowl is food and oven safe though I would recommend hand washing it rather than putting it in the dishwasher in order to preserve it for years to come. Any irregularities in the work are due to the making and firing process and are part of the hand-made quality of the piece.
